Fawn Sisal Veiled Tilt Hat with Tangerine Bow circa 1940s 。This is an incredibly beautiful tilt hat from the fabulous forties! The hat is made of brown felt, and it consists of a medium height crown surrounded by a short brim at the front, which tapers down towards the back and ends in a pointy shape, which helps keep the hat in place. There is also an elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to secure it in a tilted position. An orange ostrich feather adorns the top of the front brim. There are stunning multiple orange velvety fabric flowers & leaves at the top of the crown, cascading back. A brown dotted veil finishes the look. Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, an extended cap, or a combination of these. 30s Fashion certainly seemed fussier than the 1920s with its relentless ornaments of bows, trims and frills.
